International School Library Month (ISLM)
Celebrate School Libraries in October!
October 1 marks the beginning of International School Library Month (ISLM), a month to celebrate and draw attention to school libraries. First started as International School Library Day in 1999 by Past President Blanche Woolls, it was changed to International School Library Month in 2008 to give more flexibility to schools around the world to choose a time in the month that best fits their specific situation. During this month, school libraries around the world can choose a day, week, or the entire month to celebrate the importance of libraries.
Ajit Narayan, a leading cartoon artist/Illustrator conducted a workshop on “Cartooning” in the school. It was a fun learning experience for the children where they took notes on the various aspects of cartooning and learnt how to make comic strips and illustrations.
Skype Interaction
Our school students participated in the 'Skype Project' under 'ISLM'. The students interacted with the students of 'Medan International School, Indonesia'. The students made e-pals and shared their experiences and cultural values and also developed their interpersonal skills while interacting with students of partner school over Skype.
Meet the Author
Workshop on ‘How to create your own story’
A workshop on ‘How to create your own story’ was conducted by Marcia Williams . She is an internationally acclaimed author and comic strip illustrator of the classics and history. The students had a wonderful interactive session where they took notes on the various aspects of story writing in a comic form. It was a great fun learning experience.

ILA declared 14 November as National Library Day. Since 1968, 14-20 November has been celebrated as National Library Week all over India and various programs are organized to let the public know about the libraries.
